Eagles Lose Epic Game 4 Battle
It was a battle, and overtime was a fitting end to Game 4 of the Coastal Conference Final.
JP Villeneuve scored to open the scoring at 2:09 of the first period on a rebound and then goalies Andrew Hunt and Sean Maguire took over.
The two goalies looked like they may never be beaten Maguire flashing his glove out with two great saves on Tyler Morley, Hunt stopping Dan Schuler on a breakaway and Matt Scarth in close.
It took until 16:57 of the third period before Sean McGovern beat Maguire in close to tie the score.
The game was tied 1-1 heading into overtime and the Eagles had a power play to start the extra session, just after the man advantage had expired Cohen Adair converted a centring pass in front of Hunt at 1:12 to give the Kings a 3-1 series lead.
Final shots were 49-36 for the Eagles, the first time they outshot Powell River in the series.
Saturday's Three Stars were 1) Sean Maguire 2) Andrew Hunt 3) Tyler Morley
For Surrey Brandon Tanev was a late scratch and Matt Cronin didn't finish the game, that adds two more to a growing list of Eagles forced out of action.
Game 4 is the third straight game in the series decided by one goal and the third straight time a road team has taken the victory.
The Eagles hope that trend continues at the Hap Parker Arena on Monday for a must win Game 5.
Game 6 would be back at the South Surrey Arena on Tuesday night.

Eagles Win Game 7 Thriller
It took 63:42 to decide a winner in Game 7 of the Surrey/Cowichan series.
Brandon Tanev scooped home the winning goal to move the Eagles to a second straight Conference Final matchup with the Powell River Kings.
Surrey got the first goal when Alex Hagen snapped a shot off the post and in to break the ice at 12:41 of the first period.
Steven Iacobellis tied it in the second sneaking a loose puck by Andrew Hunt at 15:59.
Hagen's second of the game at 1:02 of the third on a Surrey power play put the Eagles in front for most of the third, but with a minute to go a deflection by Brett Knowles knotted the game at 2-2.
The start of overtime was controlled by the Capitals but Tyler Morley was able to set up Tanev for the winnner at 3:42.
Hunt face 44 Cowichan shots in the game and his best save was a sprawling stop on Devin Gannon in the second period.
For the Caps Derek Dunn was solid as well stopping 28 of 31 shots.
Power plays were at a premium with the Eagles going 1/2 and Caps 2/2.
Saturday's Three Stars were 1) Andrew Hunt 2) Derek Dunn 3) Alex Hagen
This series marked the second time that Cowichan Valley and Surrey met in the playoffs, the Caps beat the Eagles 4-1 in the first round in the 1994 playoffs.
With the way this series went back and forth it will no doubt be remembered as one of the best in the franchise histories of the two clubs.
The Eagles move on to play the Kings with Game 1 and Game 2 Tuesday and Wednesday in Powell River.
Game 3 and Game 4 are back at the South Surrey Arena on Friday and Saturday.
